iScooter i9 Electric Scooter for Adults Reviews

I’ve recently had the chance to put the i9 electric scooter through its paces, and for its price of £200 and so, I can honestly say it offers more than I expected.

First Impressions

Straight out of the box, the i9 looks sleek and minimalistic, with its slim 8.5-inch wheels and compact folding frame. At just 12 kg (26.4 lbs), it’s incredibly lightweight compared to many scooters I’ve tried, which makes carrying it up stairs or popping it into the boot a breeze. The build quality feels sturdy despite the lighter weight, with a maximum rider load of 100 kg (220 lbs).

Power and Performance

With its 350W motor, the i9 isn’t the most powerful scooter on the market, but for city commuting and casual weekend rides, it’s more than enough. I reached a top speed of 18.6 mph (30 km/h) on flat ground, and the acceleration felt smooth rather than aggressive. The scooter handles inclines of up to 15% decently – it won’t shoot up steep hills, but it won’t leave you pushing it either.

The front electronic brake combined with the rear disc brake provides responsive stopping power. I especially appreciate the balance between the two systems – the electronic brake slows you down without jolts, while the disc brake adds extra reassurance for quick stops.

Range and Battery

The 7.5Ah (270Wh) battery gives me around 18.6 miles (30 km) of range in real-world conditions. Of course, your mileage may vary depending on rider weight, speed, and terrain. Charging is straightforward, and I like that the battery is fully enclosed for extra protection.

Comfort and Ride Quality

The i9 comes with honeycomb solid tyres, which means no worrying about punctures – a lifesaver if you commute daily. While they don’t have the same cushioning as air-filled tyres, the ride is surprisingly comfortable for an urban scooter, especially thanks to the front suspension that takes the edge off bumps and potholes.

The IP54 water resistance rating is a nice touch too, meaning I can ride through light rain without panic (though I wouldn’t take it through deep puddles).

Features and Safety

The i9 comes with both a headlight and a rear brake light, so visibility is good for evening rides. The old model used the KCQ app, but the new version runs on the Tuya app, which I found more responsive and user-friendly. It lets me check speed, battery status, and even lock the scooter from my phone.

Who’s it for?

I think the i9 is perfect for beginners or casual riders who want an affordable way to get around town. If you’re a commuter with a short-to-medium journey, a student navigating campus, or someone who wants a portable option for quick errands, this scooter fits the bill. It’s also ideal if you value low maintenance – the puncture-proof tyres and solid folding mechanism mean less hassle in the long run.

Portability

At 108 x 43 x 112 cm, it folds down compact enough for storage in small flats or offices. The folding mechanism feels solid, and I haven’t had any rattling or looseness after repeated folding and unfolding.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, lightweight, and reliable electric scooter for daily commuting or weekend fun, the i9 delivers excellent value for money. It’s not a high-performance monster, but for under £230, it ticks all the right boxes – portability, safety, and decent range – while being fun to ride.

Pros:

  • Affordable price for its features

  • Lightweight and portable

  • Puncture-proof honeycomb tyres

  • Smooth braking with electronic + disc combo

  • IP54 water resistance

Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with how much the i9 offers for such a low price. It’s the kind of scooter I’d happily recommend to friends starting their e-scooter journey.
