iScooter i8 Electric Scooter Reviews

I’ve always been a firm believer that the right scooter can turn a dull commute into something that feels more like an adventure. So, when I got my hands on the iScooter i8, priced at £200 or so, I was curious to see whether this budget-friendly option could deliver on practicality, comfort, and a bit of fun. After a week of riding it around my local streets, here’s my honest take.

First Impressions

The i8 arrives neatly packaged and, to my relief, only requires a few minutes of assembly before it’s ready to roll. At 26.4 lbs (12 kg), it’s light enough for me to carry up the stairs without feeling like I’m hauling a sack of bricks, yet sturdy enough to inspire confidence.

Performance

Powered by a 350 W rear motor, the i8 isn’t a racing machine, but it handles urban terrain with surprising gusto. The top speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h) is ideal for weaving through cycle lanes and short stretches of open road. The acceleration is smooth rather than jerky, which I appreciate when starting off in busy areas.

With a maximum range of 12 miles (20 km), it’s clearly aimed at short commutes or casual rides rather than long-distance treks. I found that riding at full speed on flat roads gave me just under the advertised range, but that’s to be expected with electric scooters.

Ride Comfort & Handling

There’s no suspension here, so you do feel the bumps and cracks in the pavement. However, the 8.5-inch pneumatic tyres do a decent job of softening the ride. The handling is nimble, and I had no trouble navigating tight corners or avoiding potholes.

The rear hub brake and hidden electronic brake give reliable stopping power without being too abrupt, which is handy in wet conditions. Speaking of which, the IP54 water resistance rating means it’ll shrug off the odd splash or light drizzle – though I wouldn’t take it out in a downpour.

Practicality

The i8’s folding design makes it easy to store under a desk or in a hallway. The headlight and brake light are bright enough for early mornings or evening rides, and the 15% climb ability means it can manage gentle hills without much fuss – though you’ll feel it slow down on steeper gradients.

There’s no fancy app connectivity here, which I actually find refreshing. Sometimes, I just want to switch on a scooter and go, without fiddling with my phone.

Who’s It For?

The iScooter i8 is ideal for first-time e-scooter owners, students, or casual riders who want a reliable, affordable way to get from A to B. If you’ve got a short to medium commute, want something light enough to carry, and don’t mind trading a bit of range for a lower price, this is a solid choice. It’s not for off-road adventurers or speed demons – think “city hopper” rather than “road warrior.”

Verdict

The iScooter i8 is a no-nonsense electric scooter that delivers where it matters most: portability, decent speed, and good value for money. It’s not built for long journeys or rough terrain, but for city commutes, short errands, or a bit of weekend fun, it’s an excellent choice – especially for the price.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and portable

  • Solid build quality for the price

  • Smooth acceleration and braking

  • Good value under £210

If you’re after an affordable, straightforward scooter for everyday use, I’d happily recommend the i8. It’s a solid little workhorse that doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not – and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
